5 Tips to Maintain Your Kitchen
Cleaning the kitchen is part of our everyday routine. We keep everything organized, dispose the garbage properly, and make sure that flies are kept away. We also make sure that there is no exposed ingredient or food. We want them sealed and clean.
But ceaning does not just have to end with washing dishes or mopping the floor. There are things that we should focus our attention on like whether we need replacement kitchen doors or not. Here are some tips to maintain your kitchen:
1. Keep everything dry
Rust occurs due to moisture and water. Once there is a liquid spillage, it is very important to clean it up immediately for your metal surfaces not to get rusted. Mold would also form and other fungi or bacterial activities. They all tend to thrive in wet surfaces.
2. Check for leaks
Leaks do start small. If they are left unattended, they would become bigger and bigger as water pressure increases. If the leak is coming from the pipe line of potable water, you will get less pressure if the faucet is above the leaked pipe.
3. Make sure flammable items are far from your stove
This measure is not just to avoid fire. This is also to make sure that the appliances near your stove will not be damaged. You may have already seen pots with melamine resin holder disfigured due to the heat coming from the stove. We don’t want that to happen to our pots.
Make sure that the appliances or kitchen items near your stove are not flammable. You will be able to use them longer and at the same time, spare your kitchen from fire.
4. Use soft side of the sponge when cleaning stainless appliances
Not all stainless appliances are scratch-resistant. For this reason, a soft sponge should be used when cleaning them. Most sponges have two sides, one soft and the other one hard.
For most stainless surfaces, you can remove any stubborn grease using water and baking soda.
5. Clean your storage at least once a month
This tip can also work to check if you need replacement cabinet doors. If the cabinet doors are fine, we don’t stop there. Clean your storage by removing all the food items there to make sure that there are no spoiled and expired items.
This is also a good time to wipe any food debris that would make your storage attractive to insects.
